DISKOGRAFI
Ramayan is a Malaysian neo-psychedelic pop/rock band comprising Pi’e (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Omar (bass, bass synthesizer), Que (drums, keyboards, synthesizer), and Izzat (guitar, vocals). The band is signed under Luncai Emas Sdn. Bhd., an established independent label founded by Dato’ M. Nasir. Their musical style is influenced by psychedelic pop, progressive rock, funk, disco, and electronic pop from the 1960s to the 1980s, drawing inspiration from artists such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Bee Gees, Kraftwerk, Michael Jackson, Prince, Todd Rundgren, and ABBA, as well as notable Malaysian acts including Alleycats, Noorkumalasari, Carefree, M. Nasir, and Sudirman. Ramayan’s sound incorporates a blend of local and Western musical elements, integrating Nusantara influences and Malay poetic lyricism.
In 2020, Ramayan released their first full-length LP, featuring a collaboration with Indonesian artist and producer Mondo Gascaro, known for his work with regional talents such as Atilia and Noh Salleh. The album’s lead single, “Lamunan Anak Bulan,” released in mid-2020, received positive national reception for its contemporary psychedelic sound. The track won the “Best Song” award at the 2020 TAPAU Awards. The LP was subsequently nominated in the “Best Album” category at the 2022 Music Industry Awards, marking a notable milestone for contemporary psychedelic music in Malaysia.
